What determines the cost?
Two patients having the same named procedure can receive different treatment plans. Cost should therefore be compared against the exact care plan rather than a headline number.
What should a written quotation show?
| Item to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Planned procedure | Confirms you are comparing the same treatment across providers. |
| Doctor / treating team | Identifies who is expected to deliver the care. |
| Hospital stay / room category | Longer stays or different room categories can change the bill. |
| Implant / device / consumables | Relevant for procedures using devices, implants or high-cost consumables. |
| Investigations and medicines | Clarifies whether pre-operative and in-hospital items are included. |
| Exclusions | Extended ICU care, complications, additional procedures and post-discharge medicines may be separate. |
Documents to prepare before requesting a quote
- Recent medical summary and diagnosis, if available
- Relevant imaging files/reports and laboratory results
- Previous procedure or discharge summaries
- Current medication list and known allergies
- Questions you want the treating team to answer
How international patients should compare options
Compare the proposed treatment, clinician, facility, devices or implants, expected length of stay, exclusions and follow-up plan. Ask how the estimate changes if examination in India changes the treatment plan.
Hospital stay and recovery planning
Typical hospital planning: 1–3 days.
Recovery planning: often days to a few weeks depending on the case.
These are broad planning ranges. Do not book return travel solely from a generic web estimate. Confirm discharge timing and fitness to fly with the treating team.
Questions to ask before accepting a quote
- What exact treatment is being proposed, and what alternatives were considered?
- Who will be the treating specialist and where will treatment take place?
- Which investigations must be completed before the plan is final?
- Exactly what is included and excluded from the estimate?
- Could an implant, device, ICU stay or additional procedure change the amount?
- How long should I remain in India after discharge?
- How will follow-up be managed after I return home?
Pricing evidence
Apollo's public page states a PTCA range of ₹1,00,000–₹2,50,000. Stent count/type, hospital, room and complications can affect the final quotation.
