Before leaving the hospital
- Collect discharge summary and procedure/operation notes.
- Collect pathology, imaging and important test reports.
- Understand each medicine, dose and duration.
- Ask about wound care, diet, activity and rehabilitation.
- Know which symptoms require urgent medical attention.
Before flying
Ask the treating team when you are medically fit to fly. The answer depends on the procedure, mobility, oxygen needs, clot risk and any complications.
Follow-up from home
Clarify when the next review is due, what tests should be repeated locally and how new reports can be shared with the treating team.
Emergency symptoms: Seek urgent local medical care for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms rather than waiting for an international response.
